Uzma Rizvi | Pratt Institute

Dr. Uzma Rizvi recently completed her AIPS post-doctoral fellowship work in Sindh examing the archeological site of MohenjoDaro. During her trip, Dr. Rizvi participated in a conference titled “New Challenges to the Physical Heritage: Climate Change Perspective”, hosted by the Government of Sindh’s Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, and Archives Department. Abdul Aijaz | Indiana University, Bloomington

Abdul Aijaz recently published "State, scarcity, and survival: A minor history of people and place in the Lower Bari Doab, Punjab" in Environment and Planning E: Nature and Space. Abdul's article examines the colonial legacies of agrarian policies in Punjab and offers a 'minor history' of the pastoral Baloch tribes of the Lower Bari Doab region that reframes conventional understandings about progress and resource development in the region. 

Iftikhar Dadi | Cornell University

AIPS Vice President Iftikhar Dadi recently published a book titled Lahore Cinema, which examines cinema produced between 1956 and 1969 in Lahore, Pakistan. It examines the historical background during which these films were made and their role in allowing audiences to navigate the rapid modernization of the time, playing an influential progressive role during this time in South Asia. Sadaf Sajjad | Austin Community College

Dr. Sadaf Sajjad, Professor at Austin Community College and AIPS Member, spoke on how global research focuses on analyzing, researching, and providing globally-conscious solutions. The webinar opened a discussion on the practical issues faced by participants regarding ethical practices and the associated challenges they incurred during their research. Research practices of other countries were debated as well.

Rizwan Shinwari and Ken LeBlond

AIPS members Rizwan Shinwari and Ken LeBlond collaborated on a presentation at the National University of Modern Languages on November 3rd. Mr. LeBlond, marketing communications manager at the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute, gave a presentation on the U.S. credit system to Mr. Shinwari’s macroeconomics class via Zoom. Mr. LeBlond detailed his experiences with credit cards, interest rates, and the credit reporting system. He then had a discussion with the students about Islamic banking.
