Welcome to AIPS

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), established in 1973, is a bi-national research and education organization with a mission to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchange between the US and Pakistan.

It is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, autonomous organization and a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

AIPS-OUPP Submissions due December 1st

The AIPS-OUPP scholarly reprint series focuses on reprinting humanities and social science monographs and edited volumes for sale in Pakistan. Prospective applicants must be individual AIPS members or scholars from an AIPS member institution. Submissions are accepted biannually; the next deadline is December 1st, 2021. Applicants must contact AIPS to confirm eligibility prior to applying. Find more information on the AIPS-OUPP page. 

 

Writing Pakistan: Literature, Nationhood, and Identity

AIPS sponsored the panel "Writing Pakistan: Literature, Nationhood, and Identity" at the 2021 Annual Conference on South Asia. The panel, organized by Mushtaq Bilal (PhD candidate, Binghamton University) investigates the relationship between Pakistani literature, nationhood, and identity by bringing together established scholars and graduate students working on Pakistani literature.

Call for Papers: University of Michigan CSAS

The Center for South Asian Studies at the University of Michigan is pleased to launch its Call for Papers for the conference “In and Out of South Asia: Race, Capitalism, and Mobility.” The conference will take place virtually on February 25-26, 2022.

AIPS Welcomes New Institutional Members

AIPS would like to welcome our three new institutional members for 2021-2022! Dr. Michael Hirsch (Huston-Tillotson University), Dr. Anna Stirr (The University of Hawai'i at Manoa), and Dr. Sabrin Beg (The University of Delaware) will serve as the new AIPS Trustees.
