The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), established in 1973, is a bi-national research and education organization with a mission to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchange between the US and Pakistan.

It is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, autonomous organization and a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

Pakistan Journal of Historical Studies - Call for Papers!

The Pakistan Journal of Historical Studies (PJHS) (Indiana University Press) is seeking contributions on any period and theme related to the subject of history for their Fall publication. Submissions are due by June 15, 2021! PJHS aims to develop critical ideas on less explored and innovative themes in social, cultural, art, architectural, political, and economic histories.

International Conference on Buddhism in Pakistan

We are happy to share news of the upcoming International Conference on Buddhism in Pakistan! The Silk Road Centre, in collaboration with the Taxila Institute of Asian Civilizations, Quaid-i-Azam University is organizing an International Conference on Buddhism in Pakistan from October 11-12, 2021 in Islamabad. The conference includes engaging research sessions, a Buddhist art festival, and 1 to 3-day post-conference visits to key Buddhist heritage sites.

Sajjad Zaheer Digital Archive Launch

The South Asia Institute at the University of Texas at Austin has announced a virtual launch event for the Sajjad Zaheer Digital Archives! The event will take place on Tuesday, April 27th, 9:00-10:30 AM CDT. Syed Akbar Hyder (UT Austin) will serve as the moderator for the event which will feature many of the scholars who collaborated to produce this impressive digital archive. Upcoming Book Talk - Dr. Anita Weiss

Dr. Anita Weiss (University of Oregon) recently published a new book, "Countering Violent Extremism in Pakistan: Local Actions, Local Voices" with Oxford University Press. To celebrate the book launch, the American Pakistan Foundation is hosting a virtual book talk with Dr. Weiss on Monday, March 22 at 8:00 PM EDT. Dr. Weiss will be joined by writer and policy specialist Raza Rumi, and President of the American Pakistan Foundation Shamila Chaudhary.
