Welcome to AIPS

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), established in 1973, is a bi-national research and education organization with a mission to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchange between the US and Pakistan.

It is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, autonomous organization and a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

TechWomen Program

Eileen Brewer and Cathy Simpson recently finished their TechWomen program that included a series of over 30 talks, workshops, and sessions on topics relating to women in STEM and entrepreneurship from February 26 to March 12 in Lahore and Islamabad, Pakistan. The TechWomen program is part of the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs' initiative to increase technical literacy and STEM training among women across the world.

BULPIP-AIPS 2020 Program

The Berkeley-AIPS Urdu Language Program in Pakistan (BULPIP-AIPS) is accepting applications for its Fall 2020 intensive Urdu language immersion program based at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Pakistan. The application deadline is February 14, 2020. Apply now!

Junior Faculty Training & Exchange Program

The AIPS Junior Faculty Training and Exchange Program has officially concluded! This Embassy-funded program brought 14 Pakistani scholars to the US and 18 US scholars to Pakistan. The main focus of this grant was to provide a consistent long-term transfer of expertise for capacity building among the faculty members in Pakistan.
