The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), established in 1973, is a bi-national research and education organization with a mission to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchange between the US and Pakistan.

It is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, autonomous organization and a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

Berkeley – AIPS Urdu Language Program in Pakistan – Fall 2018 Fellowship Announcement!!

The Berkeley-AIPS Urdu Language Program in Pakistan (BULPIP-AIPS) is accepting applications for its Fall 2018 intensive Urdu language immersion program based at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Pakistan between November 15, 2017 – January 12, 2018. Jointly administered by the America Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) and the Berkeley Urdu Language Program in Pakistan (BULPIP) at the University of California, Berkeley, this Urdu language program will offer daily classroom instruction, five days a week, for approximately fifteen weeks.

Teaching Urdu as a Second Language Training Program in the U.S.!!

The Berkeley Urdu Language Program in Pakistan (BULPIP) and the America Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) invite applications for individuals interested in undertaking Urdu as a second language teacher’s training in the United States in the summer of 2018. The appointment is for a portion of the SASLI Urdu program at the University of Wisconsin in Madison (June 5 – July 2, 2018) and a three-day workshop led at partner U.S. University (July 5 – 7, 2018).

NEH Senior Research Fellowship Program

The CAORC National Endowment for the Humanities Senior Research Fellowship Program supports advanced research in the humanities for US postdoctoral scholars, and foreign national postdoctoral scholars who have been residents in the US for three or more years. Fellowship stipends are $4,200 per month for a total of four months.
