AIPS Presidential Election Results

AIPS is excited to announce the election of Dr. Matthew A. Cook of North Carolina Central University as the next AIPS President! Matt has been an active member or board member of AIPS for almost 20 years and has received several grants and funding programs to advance the field of Pakistan studies both in the U.S. and abroad. Most recently, Matt organized the Digital Humanities Training and Exchange program, which saw a scholar and mentor exchange between NCCU and Pakistan to expand digital humanities knowledge in social science applications (Read more about the Digital Humanities program here: http://pakistanstudies-aips.org/content/digital-humanities-training-and-...)

Matt has served as the Vice-President of AIPS since 2015 and had previously served on the AIPS Executive Committee. Matt has been at NCCU since 2008, is currently a Professor of Postcolonial and East Asian Studies, and has won several teaching awards. Matt's term as AIPS President will start on October 1st, 2020, and last until the next election in 2023. An election to fill the AIPS Vice-President's position will take place this fall.

AIPS would like to congratulate Matt on this great honor and thank current AIPS President, Farhat Haq of Monmouth College, who has accepted a position as the Provost of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).
