AIPS Announces Summer Research Grant

AIPS is delighted to be able to offer research/travel grants to Pakistan for summer of 2015. These grants are open to all and we strongly encourage graduate students enrolled in a US university to apply. However, US citizen applicants will be required to conduct research in either Islamabad or Lahore. If you are selected, you will be asked to become an AIPS Individual Member prior to receiving your award. Please note that AIPS can assist with finding appropriate accommodations in Islamabad and/or Lahore but that the candidate will be responsible for paying for accommodations. 

• Must be seeking a graduate degree or have already received a graduate degree
• No citizenship restriction
• Must be affiliated with a US academic institution

How to apply:

• Submit a one-page proposal/research statement (formatted as Microsoft Word)
• Submit a current CV
• One letter of recommendation (graduate students only) submitted by the graduate advisor or another academic faculty member
• Send all application materials via email to: aips@pakistanstudies-aips.org

Funding Information:

• grants will be awarded at $3,000 for each award
• Funds can be used to cover airfare and living expenses
• Travel must take place between June 1, 2015 and December 31, 2015

Notes to applicants:

1. Graduate students of any nationality are encouraged to apply.
2. AIPS can provide a letter for the Pakistani visa application, but acquiring the visa is the responsibility of the applicant. For US citizens, AIPS can pay for visa expenses.
3. US citizens must conduct research in Islamabad and/or Lahore. Non US citizens may conduct research anywhere in Pakistan.
