Welcome to AIPS

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS), established in 1973, is a bi-national research and education organization with a mission to promote academic study of Pakistan in the US and to encourage scholarly exchange between the US and Pakistan.

It is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, autonomous organization and a member of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers.

Prof. Qasid Mallah, Department of Archaeology, Shah Abdul Latif University, Sindh, Pakistan will give a talk on 'The Indus Civilization: New insights from Lakhanjodaro, Sindh' on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 5230 Social Sciences Building, University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

 

Call for Submission - 2017-18 S.S. Pirzada Dissertation Prize on Pakistan!!

AIPS parterner institution, the Institute for South Asia Studies, and the Berkeley Pakistan Initiative are delighted to announce the inaugural S. S. Pirzada Dissertation Prize for 2017-18. They invite submission of the dissertations on Pakistan (or the region that is now Pakistan) in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Visual & Fine Arts, Law, and Public Health. 

Result of the AIPS Presidential elections!!

The results of the AIPS Presidential elections is out. Farhat Haq has been elected to a 3-year term as the President of AIPS. Her term of office is October 1, 2017 - Sept 30, 2020.

Please join us in congratulating Farhat Haq and in thanking both her and Iftikar Dadi for their commitment to AIPS and for their willingness to serve.  In addition, let's thank the nominating committee: Matt Cook (chair), Farina Mir, and David Gilmartin, for assembling such a strong ballot for consideration.
